Fools Farm is a women owned sheep farm based in the Upper Valley, VT.
​We raise grass fed lamb using intensive rotational grazing practices.

Buy lamb directly from the farmer.  This is how it works:

​You buy the living animal.  You can take the weened lamb to raise as livestock - or - we finish pasture raising the lamb to slaughter on the farm in early November. We work with itinerant slaughterer Mary Lake.  On-farm slaughter is the most ethical end of life for these beautiful animals that we raise and deeply respect (learn more here).

On-farm slaughter is also called the "personal use" exemption from inspection.  Customers assume the liability for the quality of the meat of the animal they own, which they decide to have slaughtered on their behalf, on the farm where it was raised. Fools Farm provides a clean site for slaughter, removes the offal, and retains the hides. 

Our customers are the livestock owners and are invited to be present on slaughter day.  The lamb is butchered at Roma's Butchery. Customers pick-up their meat at Roma's, with their certificate of ownership that follows the lamb on slaughter day to the butcher.  

PRICING AND CUT-SHEET OPTIONS


You can buy a whole or half lamb. 
$400 whole lamb*
$200 half lamb*

We ask for a 50% deposit with the confirmation of your order.

* This price does not include slaughter or processing costs.
Additional slaughter fee = $40/whole lamb; $20/ half lamb.
Additional processing fee = approx. $120 - 140/ whole lamb; $60 -80/ half lamb.


These costs will be added to your final invoice. The balance is due upon receipt of
your final invoice after pickup of the livestock or meat respectively. 

You can choose to slaughter and/ or process your own lamb upon inquiry with us. 


We offer two cut-sheet options.

If you are purchasing a whole lamb, you can choose either one of each option or two of the same option. 

​HALF LAMB OPTION 1: Holiday Roasts
  • Shoulder Roast
  • Rack of Lamb
  • Leg Options
             a)  Whole leg (on the bone or boneless, with the bone included)  
             b) Choice of 3: Small leg in bone roast, kebab,
                  stew meat, ground meat, or leg steak
  • Diversity of chops (+/- 12 total) depending on the size of the lamb, we estimate you will receive 6 loin chops, 3 blade steaks, 3 neck steaks. 
  • Shanks x2
  • Ground lamb (+/- 1 lb)

HALF LAMB OPTION 2:  Everyday Use Cuts
  • Diverse chops (+/- 16 total)
    Depending on the size of the lamb, you will receive up to 6 loin, 4 rib, 3 blade steaks, 3 neck steaks.
  • Kebab or stew meat (2 - 4 lbs)
  • Ground lamb (2 - 4 lbs)
    Roma's offers the option to add an herbal or Middle Eastern spice blend to the ground lamb. 
  • Shoulder roast

  • Bones
